Earlier it was reported that the leader of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia Vladimir Zhirinovsky congratulated Furgal, who is in jail, on his birthday and sent him a telegram. The politician promised that the party will continue to make every effort to alleviate the fate of the ex-governor.
“Sergei Furgal, who is now in the FKU Detention Center-2 of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia (Lefortovo), in his words, did not receive a single congratulatory telegram or letter either for the New Year, or for his birthday, or for the Defender of the Fatherland Day. not a single actual letter has been received since the New Year, except for six postcards, “the human rights activist wrote in his Telegram.
He added that he had received more than a hundred congratulations to the ex-governor and requests to check whether Furgal received congratulatory letters in the pre-trial detention center.
“Government congratulatory telegrams from the words of Sergei Ivanovich also did not come to him. Recently they issued correspondence for September and October,” Melnikov added.
Furgal was detained on July 9, 2020, and is charged with involvement in the activities of a local criminal group and organizing murders in the 2000s. The governor was taken to Moscow and imprisoned in the Lefortovo pre-trial detention center, and soon the president fired him. The RF IC accuses Furgal of organizing the murders of entrepreneurs Yevgeny Zori and Oleg Bulatov and the attempt on the life of businessman Alexander Smolsky. He does not admit himself guilty.
