Syria demanded from UN Security Council to stop US attacks

CAIRO, February 27 – RIA Novosti. Syria has demanded that the UN Security Council take immediate measures to stop the US attacks on Syrian lands, the SAR Ministry said in a statement.

Damascus has sent a letter to the UN Secretary General and the Chairman of the UN Security Council, according to a Foreign Ministry statement released by the state agency SANA. In a message from the Syrian Foreign Ministry, he indicated that the US Air Force strikes in the province of Deir ez-Zor are “blatant aggression and another episode in a series of repeated attacks by American troops under far-fetched pretexts.”

“The ministry reiterated its call on the Security Council to assume responsibility for maintaining peace and security and to take immediate action to prevent its permanent member (the United States) from continuing its aggression and crimes against a sovereign state,” the Syrian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

Earlier, the Pentagon reported that the US attacked several buildings on the Syrian-Iraqi border, which were used by a number of Iran-backed paramilitary groups, including Kataib Hezbollah and Kataib Sayyid al-Shuhada. The defense department noted that the move was a response to the recent attacks on American and coalition forces in Iraq.
