Russians will not be able to visit Cyprus in March

ATHENS, 26 Feb – RIA Novosti. Russia remains in the category of countries whose citizens must have a residence permit or obtain a special permit to enter Cyprus from March 1, and the arriving passengers must undergo a two-week quarantine, according to a COVID-19 epidemiological risk assessment published by the Cyprus Ministry of Health on Saturday.

The Epidemiological Surveillance Unit of the Ministry of Health has reassessed the epidemiological picture. The classification of the countries of the European Union and the European Economic Area (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway), including Switzerland, provides for “color” categories – green, orange or red, it is based on the classification of the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC).

As for third countries (Great Britain, Russia, Ukraine, Israel, Lebanon, UAE, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Belarus), as well as countries included in the updated list of EU recommendations, they undergo an epidemiological assessment to remove temporary restrictions on travel to the EU ministries of health and are categorized into green, orange, red and gray. Russia, in accordance with this categorization, is in the list of countries of the gray category, for arrival from which a special permit is required. There are ten countries in this list – Great Britain, Israel, Russia, United Arab Emirates, Ukraine, Jordan, Lebanon, Egypt, Belarus, Rwanda.

From countries of the gray category, entry into the Republic of Cyprus is allowed only for the following categories of passengers: Cypriot citizens and their family members (their foreign spouses and their minor children); European citizens, citizens of the European Economic Area (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway) and Switzerland; persons residing in Cyprus legally; persons entitled to enter Cyprus in accordance with the Vienna Convention and third-country nationals who are entitled to enter the Republic of Cyprus after obtaining a special permit.

Passengers arriving from countries in this category must have a laboratory test within 72 hours before traveling to Cyprus and have a negative PCR COVID-19 certificate.

Passengers from countries of the gray category must spend 14 days in mandatory self-isolation or in mandatory quarantine. It is possible to shorten this period if, after 10 days of the mandatory self-isolation or quarantine regime, you re-test for COVID-19 at your own expense and present a negative result.

All passengers, regardless of country category, must check in on the CyprusFlightPass website 24 hours before departure.

In addition, a laboratory molecular test will be carried out for public health and epidemiological surveillance purposes.

The Ministry of Health emphasizes that permission to enter Cyprus depends on the epidemiological situation.

“The categorization of countries based on an assessment of epidemiological risk is extremely dynamic and can be changed at any time as the pandemic develops and epidemiological data change. For this purpose, new data will be announced, and the list of countries will be updated frequently,” the Ministry of Health said.
