YEREVAN, February 27 – RIA Novosti. Opponents of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan spent the second night in a tent camp near the parliament building in Yerevan, RIA Novosti correspondent reports.
Two or three dozen people spent the night in the camp. They told RIA Novosti that the night was calm. All night they warmed themselves by the fires, now they are cleaning. Like-minded people brought them breakfast. In the afternoon, at this place, the opposition announced its next meeting.
The entrances to the camp are blocked by the police. Also, a line of police officers lined up along the parliament fence.
Another political crisis erupted in Yerevan after Pashinyan's careless words about the Russian Iskander. According to media reports, the deputy chief of the general staff of Armenia ridiculed the prime minister, for which he was dismissed, following him the chief of the general staff was offered to resign. On Thursday morning, the Armenian Armed Forces issued a statement demanding the resignation of Pashinyan himself. The prime minister regarded this as an attempted coup and called on his supporters to take to the streets. Meanwhile, the opposition has erected barricades and set up a campground near the parliament, they are not in the mood for negotiations with the authorities and demand the resignation of the prime minister.
