YAKUTSK, February 26 – RIA Novosti. The Rosprirodnadzor department organized an unscheduled inspection due to a diesel spill at a diamond mine in the Bulunsky district of Yakutia, the regional prosecutor's office reports.
It was reported on Thursday that employees of the Almazy Anabara company (a subsidiary of Alrosa) eliminated damage to the fuel and lubricants pipeline at the Verkhneye Molodo mine. Environmentalists took samples of soil and water. “At the request of the Yakutsk environmental prosecutor's office, the regional department of Rosprirodnadzor organized an unscheduled inspection on the fact of a diesel fuel spill … on the subsoil site – Upper Molodo in Bulunsky district,” the press service said.
The site was provided in 2017 by Almazy Anabara JSC for geological exploration, exploration and production of alluvial diamonds.
“During the inspection, an assessment will be made of compliance with the legislation on environmental protection, the area of the spill on the soil and the damage caused will be calculated,” the prosecutor's office said.
