MOSCOW, February 25 – RIA Novosti. The first appellate court of general jurisdiction on Thursday recognized the extension of the arrest period for the former Senator Rauf Arashukov, who is in custody on charges of organizing the murders, as lawful, court press secretary Lyubov Budanova told RIA Novosti.
“The Judicial Collegium for Criminal Cases of the First Court of Appeal of General Jurisdiction has fully checked the legality and validity of the decision of the Moscow City Court and concluded that there are no grounds for changing or canceling it,” said the agency's interlocutor.
According to her, a similar decision was made in relation to his father Raul, former deputy general director of Gazprom Gazoraspredelenie Stavropol Nikolay Romanov, metrologist of Gazprom Mezhregiongaz Stavropol branch in Essentuki, Igor Kaishev, and deputy general director of Gazprom Gazoraspredelenie Stavropol Zamir Borsov.
The investigation believes that Raul Arashukov, as the head of the criminal community, ordered, and his son Rauf, as a member of the organized criminal group, organized the murders of the deputy chairman of the Adege-Hese youth movement Aslan Zhukov and adviser to the president of the KCR Fral Shebzukhov. They do not admit guilt. The ex-senator was also charged with two episodes of abuse of power and a false denunciation in early April.
Almost two years ago, Rauf Arashukov, one of the youngest senators, was detained right in the conference room of the Federation Council. Subsequently, the Federation Council deprived Arashukov of the status of a senator. In St. Petersburg, his father Raul Arashukov was detained in the same case, whom the investigation considers the creator of the organized criminal group. Both Arashukovs were taken into custody, as well as their relatives and friends who held high positions in the gas enterprises of the North Caucasus.
At the end of 2019, four new criminal embezzlement cases were opened against Arashukov Sr. We are talking about the transfer of about 760 million rubles from the accounts of Gazprom Gazoraspredelenia Stavropol to the accounts of the companies under its control, as well as the theft of almost 16 million rubles in case of fictitious employment of his wife and daughter in the same organization. Both are wanted.
