MOSCOW, February 26 – RIA Novosti. Moscow has already overcome the worst stage of the coronavirus pandemic and is ready for new challenges if they occur, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said on Friday.
“A significant part (of the city's life) is still in serious restrictions on movement around the city. But I hope that we have overcome the worst. But even if something happens, we are already different. We know how to treat, we know how to fight this infection, we know what to do. And, God forbid, of course, the development of other epidemiological situations, some other challenges – we are already different, we are ready to fight in a significant part much more than we were a year ago back, “- said Sobyanin at the board” Results of the activities of the Federal Service for Supervision of Consumer Rights Protection and Human Well-being in Moscow in 2020 and tasks for 2021. “
Sobyanin presented gratitude to the employees of the Moscow administration.
“It was with great pleasure that I accepted the invitation to participate in your collegium. We really became one big team during this period of time, working on the same goals and solving the same problems. It was always, but not as obvious as this year,” – said Sobyanin.
He added that the role of employees of the capital's management of Rospotrebnadzor in the fight against the coronavirus epidemic is enormous. According to him, they were in the most difficult areas from the first days of this struggle – at the airport, public transport, shopping facilities, in the homes of the sick.
“These are huge risks, complexity, and some of you just isolated yourself from your families for this period. <...> I do not know of a single case that your service refused to go to the front line, fight and protect Muscovites. You can be proud that You have saved many, many people with your work and selfless labor. On behalf of the townspeople, I want to say thank you, thank you, “said the mayor. Spread of coronavirus
The chairman of the Moscow City Duma Alexei Shaposhnikov also thanked the employees of the department for their work. He noted that 2020 “did not promise” to be political, but the coronavirus has changed the life of society and state institutions. According to him, thanks to the joint work of all authorities, Moscow is moving towards victory over the virus. “For Muscovites, you became the angels of salvation, who warned against mistakes they could make,” he said.
The mayor added that when meeting the anniversary year 2020, he thought it would be “the best year – no elections, no political events, everything is calm, and everything is fine with the budget, and the economic situation is managed, everything is fine.” He noted that the number of people walking on New Year's Eve 2020 was a record in the history of Moscow.
“We heard about disasters, watched films, knew little about pandemics and epidemics. <...> The worst thing that we saw in these films, we began to observe in individual countries – the loss of control over the situation, chaos, confusion, fear, and the feeling of people that they are abandoned and left alone with a problem, an epidemic, that there is no way to put them in a hospital and provide medical care. This would be the most terrible outcome of events, but this did not happen for us thanks to our joint work, “said Mayor – Spread of coronavirus
Sobyanin added that Moscow was at the forefront in the fight against coronavirus for a number of objective reasons.
According to him, getting out of this situation with dignity was not an easy task for the capital. In Moscow, health care systems, control over the work of city services, and so on were reorganized in a few weeks. “If strict restrictive measures had not been taken, appropriate control over their implementation would not have been taken, if with your help we would not have quickly and efficiently transferred Moscow health care to the new operating mode, I think there would have been many more victims.” – said Sobyanin.
