VLADIVOSTOK, February 26 – RIA Novosti. Police in Primorye using a service weapon during the pursuit stopped a drunk driver who was driving in the oncoming lane, the regional Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation reports.
On duty, a detachment of the traffic police of the traffic police of the department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the city of Artem noticed a Toyota Probox, which, wagging from side to side, was moving along the oncoming lane. The police decided to stop the car. “However, the driver ignored the lawful demands of the police and tried to escape. The traffic police organized a pursuit. The police repeatedly, using a special loud-speaking device and flashing beacons, gave a signal to stop the vehicle,” the message says.
It is noted that the driver of the foreign car at high speed continued to move in the oncoming lane, posing a threat to himself and others. Leaving the chase, he turned onto Ussuriiskaya Street and then onto Ulyanovskaya.
“On the basis of Article 23 of the Federal Law“ On the Police ”, the police made a decision to use a service weapon. Only after the traffic police officer fired warning shots upward, the vehicle stopped,” the police said.
The Toyota was driven by a 20-year-old drunk man without a driver's license. He was taken to the department, he refused a medical examination.
Four reports of administrative offenses were drawn up against the violator; he was assigned 10 days of administrative arrest. The car was placed in a temporary detention facility.
