In Omsk, a man left a veteran mother for five days without food

OMSK, 26 Feb – RIA Novosti. The son left a seriously ill veteran mother at home in Omsk for five days without food, a criminal case was opened against him about leaving him in danger, according to the website of the regional IC.

According to the investigation, in June 2020, a 57-year-old resident of the Leninsky District of Omsk decided to leave for a few days, leaving at home his mother, who is suffering from the disease, a veteran of the Great Patriotic War, a home front worker.

“(He) arrogantly decided that his sister would take care of her. However, the sister did not find time to visit her sick mother, as a result of which the 97-year-old pensioner spent five days in a locked apartment without food, unable to take care of herself physically,” said in the message of the Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee for the Omsk region.

Only on the sixth day, an elderly woman, who, due to her age and illness, could not use a mobile phone, was able to answer an incoming call from her relatives. The emaciated woman received assistance, the UK said.

A criminal case was opened against his son under article 125 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (leaving without the help of a person who is in a state of danger to life or health).
