MOSCOW, February 26 – RIA Novosti. Former Minister of Internal Affairs of Ingushetia Akhmed Pogorov was detained in Nazran in a criminal case of an attack on security forces, the Investigative Committee reported.
The ex-official has been on the interstate wanted list since 2019 and was arrested in absentia. He is charged under the article “Organization of the use of violence against government officials.”
According to the investigation, on March 26, 2019, a rally agreed with the authorities was held in Magas. However, its participants did not disperse, and the event, already uncoordinated, continued the next day. Protesters attacked the security forces, more than 60 law enforcement officers were injured, including life-threatening injuries. “Pogorov, as the investigation believes, was one of the active participants in an uncoordinated public event and organizer of the use of violence against government officials on March 27,” the UK added.
47 people were detained for committing crimes. During the investigation of the criminal case, criminal cases against 42 accused were separated into separate proceedings and sent to the court with indictments.
33 people were convicted.
