First batch of Sputnik V arrives in Nicaragua

MEXICO, February 24 – RIA Novosti. Vice President of Nicaragua Rosario Murillo announced the arrival in the country of the first batch of Russian vaccine against coronavirus, which was sent to the Central American country free of charge.

“Last night we accepted with gratitude the first batch of the Sputnik V vaccine, which was supplied free of charge,” Murillo said on the air of the state TV channel 4.

The politician called the delivery of the vaccine a symbol of friendship and solidarity between Russia and Nicaragua, noting that the first vaccines will be used to protect vulnerable populations suffering from chronic diseases – kidney failure, heart problems and oncology.

The Ministry of Health of Nicaragua registered the Russian Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine on February 3 under an emergency use authorization, without additional clinical trials on the territory of the state.

Currently “Sputnik V” is registered in 36 countries – Russia, Belarus, Argentina, Bolivia, Serbia, Algeria, Palestine, Venezuela, Honduras, Paraguay, Turkmenistan, Hungary, United Arab Emirates, Iran, Republic of Guinea, Tunisia, Armenia, Mexico, Nicaragua, Republika Srpska (Entity of Bosnia and Herzegovina), Lebanon, Myanmar, Pakistan, Mongolia, Bahrain, Montenegro, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Gabon, San Marino, Ghana, Syria, Kyrgyzstan, Guyana and Egypt.
