The European Union commented on the expulsion of its ambassador from Venezuela

BRUSSELS, February 24 – RIA Novosti. The European Union regrets the decision of the Venezuelan authorities to declare the head of the EU diplomatic mission persona non grata and calls for a reconsideration of this decision, a spokesman for the EU press service told RIA Novosti.

“The EU deeply regrets this decision, which will only lead to further isolation of Venezuela. We call for a reconsideration of this decision,” the source said.

According to him, Venezuela will be able to overcome the ongoing crisis only through negotiations and dialogue.

Earlier, Venezuela declared the head of the EU diplomatic mission in the country persona non grata and gave her 72 hours to leave the country, in response to the sanctions that the EU imposed on 19 officials of the Bolivarian Republic.

The European Union expanded its sanctions list on Venezuela to include 19 high-ranking military personnel, members of the National Electoral Council and members of the new parliament, “for their role in actions and decisions that undermine democracy and the rule of law in the country, as well as for serious violations of human rights.” …
