The company explained that the inflow of groundwater in the Oktyabrsky mine at a horizon of -350 meters was recorded on February 12. “Due to the increase in water inflow to the drainage complexes of the Oktyabrsky mine, as well as being guided by safety regulations and current legislation, the company made a decision on a temporary partial suspension of the operation of the mine, until the end of its flooding. Work has been organized to eliminate flooding, “the message says.
Work at Taimyrskoye has been suspended because the two mines have associated workings and water has also begun to flow there.
According to the first vice-president of Norilsk Nickel Sergey Dyachenko, how the current situation will affect the production of metals, the company will predict after the completion of the work. “Active work is underway to erect a bulkhead to stop further water flow. After the installation of the bulkhead, the volume of water will be clear. accumulated in mine workings, and supplemented by measures for their early drainage, “- the company quotes the words of Dyachenko.
Last Saturday it became known that a collapse occurred in the workshop of the Norilsk washing plant (owned by Norilsk Nickel, Bear Ruchey LLC), three people were killed, and several employees were seriously injured. A criminal case was opened on violation of safety rules that resulted in the death of two or more persons.
In May 2020, in Norilsk, one of the diesel fuel storage tanks at CHPP-3 (owned by NTEK – Norilsk Nickel's structure) was damaged, about 21 thousand tons of oil products spilled out. The court collected 146.2 billion rubles from the company for environmental damage.
