MOSCOW, February 23 – RIA Novosti. The leadership of Hitlerite Germany at the final stage of the Great Patriotic War advised its military to use original and effective finds widely used in the Soviet troops, and thus unwittingly destroyed its own main myth about the Red Army – that it can only win by numbers, overwhelming the enemy corpses, the scientific director of the Russian military-historical society Mikhail Myagkov told RIA Novosti.
This year, the RVIO republished in Russian the brochure “Russian Improvised Means and Resourcefulness”, issued in October 1944 by the intelligence of the Luftwaffe – Hitler's Air Force, and intended for the servicemen of the Third Reich. This collection is being introduced into scientific circulation and is intended for researchers of the history of the Great Patriotic War, as well as a wider circle of readers in Russia and abroad.
The foreword to the brochure in 1944 was written by one of the main Nazi war criminals, Reichsfuehrer SS Heinrich Himmler, who at that time was also the commander-in-chief of a part of the Wehrmacht – the Reserve Army. “Every soldier on the Eastern Front knows from his own experience, by what simple means in most cases the Russians cope with technical difficulties and overcome unfavorable terrain conditions … Even from the enemy you can learn. A German soldier must be brought up to help himself, “- pointed out Himmler. 75 years of the Great Victory
Smart for different occasions
The collection contains several dozen examples of ingenuity and resourcefulness, which have found wide application in the troops of the Red Army and in the Soviet rear, including the defense industry. It was noted that the use of such finds in the troops is due to the initiative of the commanders of Soviet units and their improvisation. “The Russians not only know how to use the resources and means of their country, but also quickly find use for trophies … Thanks to the improvisation of inventive regimental engineers, German trophy bombs have recently began to be set up in front of the forward outposts of the front line of the Russian defense “, – said in the brochure.
Further, it was said that the head detonator was removed from the bombs, and a charge of tol with a tension detonator and a stretch wire 20-30 meters long was placed in the hole. Such bombs, in fact turned into powerful mines, were buried in the ground at a distance of 30 meters from each other.
The compilers of the brochure praised the Red Army's ability to mislead the enemy, making it easier to carry out its tasks.
“If the Russians do not have enough weapons, they resort to camouflage and deception. Models of tanks that are often used by the Russians in various sectors of the front proved to be especially effective,” the collection reads.
“Already at the beginning of the Eastern campaign, the Russians proved themselves masters of disguise. It is in this area that they are cleverly applying improvements during the current war. Some examples introduce us to surprisingly simple solutions and improvisations,” – noted in the brochure. “Tanks on the march or in the starting area. They are easily detected by their characteristic outlines. To hide them, the Russians usually build on them superstructures of logs or slats with linen sheathing, which give the tanks the appearance of trucks. Tracks of tracks that betray themselves in the snow are often swept by tank crews, towing trees “, – said in the collection.
If it was necessary to quietly ferry vehicles across the river, then a false bridge was built, which is clearly visible from an airplane, it was noted in the brochure. But at a distance of 500-1000 meters from such a false bridge, a second bridge was simultaneously erected, the carriageway of which was just below the water level. As a result, such a true bridge was indistinguishable from the ground and from the air. And to prevent the equipment from slipping into the water, the bridge had a curb made of boards.
Separately, the brochure tells about effective techniques that allowed the USSR to largely preserve the potential of the military-industrial complex in the initial period of the war. The redeployment of defense enterprises to the east from the endangered western regions of the USSR, carried out in the summer of 1941, was described in the brochure as “a striking example of successful large-scale improvisation.”
For dismantling work, which was usually carried out in a week, there were no special lifting mechanisms, but everything was done with the help of manpower and the simplest means, the collection said. “For example, heavy machines were pulled from their foundations to loading platforms and wagons on steel sheets The damage caused by such a procedure can be assessed as relatively insignificant. The best proof of this is the fact that, contrary to all expectations, the relocated enterprises resumed their production in full at new locations at the latest within two months from the moment of their evacuation “, – the Nazis admitted.
The brochure also described how difficulties were overcome in the Soviet Union due to the need to restore the broken power supply in the cities reclaimed from the Nazis.
“In places where power plants were completely destroyed, but some industrial enterprises could still operate with electricity, small units were urgently installed in railway cars and delivered to the places of use. As mobile power plants on rails, they made the first start-up of the restored Russian industry possible. “, – said in the collection.
“The fictions that the Red Army fought in numbers, and not skill,” filling the enemy with corpses “come from the Western historiography of World War II, which was largely formed by former German military leaders. Thus, they tried to justify their defeats. But even then Soviet historians pointed out that after a period of retreats in 1941-1942, then, in 1943-1945, the Red Army won outright, in all respects, and that operational art – tactics, strategy – turned out to be better for it than for the Wehrmacht ” , – said Mikhail Myagkov.
According to him, in fact, the feeling of the superiority of the German nation over the rest, driven by Nazi propaganda into the heads of its soldiers, turned out to be a myth.
“It is quite obvious that German propaganda was in sharp contrast to the reality that the military machine of the Third Reich faced, first stopped and then defeated by the Red Army. And, naturally, the German soldier asked the question more and more often:“ How is it possible, we were taught that we are dealing with subhumans – “Untermensch”, and at first we won. But why now we are being smashed all the time, we are retreating further and further? “- added the scientific director of the RVIO.
According to Myagkov, the reality could not fail to amaze the German soldiers. “It turns out that the Russians were able to effectively and, moreover, in the shortest possible time evacuate the industry in ways that the Germans could not think of – for them it did not fit into the safety standards. conditions, build better airfields than the Germans. Build railways, laying rails on solid ice. Cut barbed wire with the help of improvised means. Quickly evacuate the wounded. And much more, “he said.
The German command drew attention to the successful experience of the Red Army, but it was already too late – seven months remained until the end of the war, Myagkov noted.
“Why didn't they do this before? I write it off only on ideology – the Nazis did not want to admit for a very long time that they faced not subhumans, but a multinational people, whose courage, strength and ingenuity prevail over any aggressor. And that such a people invincible “, – added the interlocutor of the agency.
By publishing this brochure, the military-political leadership of the Third Reich, without suspecting it, inflicted a huge moral blow on their army, noted the scientific director of the RVIO.
“In essence, the superiority of the Soviet mentality, way of life, education, military science over the Germans, over the mythical” Teutonic spirit, “was recognized, – said Myagkov.
“It turned out that the initiative coming from below, at first glance simple, but very useful things were not thrown away by the command vertical of the Red Army, but were widely used – in contrast to the German army, where the subordinates were just waiting, and what the command would say. of course, it was demoralizing on the German soldiers, “he added.
The compilers of the collection still did not mention the main factors of the victory of the Soviet Union in the war, noted Myagkov. “The rapid emergence of talented commanders who surpassed the enemy in the art of war. The fact that our entire economy was effectively and competently adjusted, rebuilt in a military manner. artillery, aircraft were superior to German ones. And this all also depended not only on the talents of designers, but also on the organization of industry, science. And, of course, the fact that our army was supported, without exaggeration, by the whole country, “said the scientific director of the RVIO.
According to Myagkov, the brochure, now published in Russian, will be in demand not only among professional historians, but also among a wide range of readers.
“I believe that we need this thing today. Dirt is pouring on our army, on our heroes, mixed with the same false thesis – that we really didn’t know how to fight, but filled the enemy with corpses. It would be useful to read this book for those who continue to repeat this after Hitler's propaganda of old, because it says that the Germans themselves recognized that the Russians fought brilliantly, they turned out to be sharper, smarter, more perspicacious, “stressed Myagkov. 75 years Great Victory
