An unscheduled check began in the Yaroslavl colony

MOSCOW, February 23 – RIA Novosti. An unscheduled check began in the Yaroslavl correctional colony No. 1 after the publication of a video with bullying of prisoners, the press service of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia in the Yaroslavl Region reports.

On Tuesday, Novaya Gazeta published a video in which, reportedly, officers of the Federal Penitentiary Service in Colony No. 1 beat two convicts. One of them, half-naked, they force to lie on the table and beat with truncheons. According to the newspaper, this convict has already served his sentence and was released. In the second case, the colony officers demand from the half-naked convict to sit down, he says he cannot. Then they forcefully put him on the table and beat him. The newspaper claims that after the beatings, the convict went to the hospital and died soon after. Based on these publications, the regional SUSK opened a criminal case, and the local prosecutor's office began an investigation.

“When studying the published videos, it was found that some of the employees have already been prosecuted, some have been dismissed from the bodies of the penal system. Until an objective clarification of the circumstances, some of the employees of the institution will be temporarily suspended from their official duties,” the message says.

The department notes that at the moment in IK-1 of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia in the Yaroslavl Region, representatives of the administrative apparatus are carrying out an unscheduled check.

A thorough investigation is being carried out in relation to all persons captured on the video recordings from the Yaroslavl IK-1, according to the regional FPS.
