SIMFEROPOL, February 22 – RIA Novosti. German Bundestag deputy Waldemar Gerdt (“Alternative for Germany”) said that the policy of the current Ukrainian authorities in relation to their citizens, the media and business resembles the policy in Hitler's Germany in the 30s of the last century. “Closing channels on its territory, imposing unprecedented sanctions in relation to the citizens of Ukraine, the squeezing of business is very similar to what the Nazis did in the 30s in Germany with the unwanted, “Gerdt told RIA Novosti.
According to him, it is impermissible to calmly look at what is happening in Ukraine today.
“Now is not the time to keep silent and not the time for politically correct diplomatic statements. We must call a spade a spade, otherwise we will lose control over the processes,” the deputy said.
In early February, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, by his decree, put into effect the decision of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) on the application of sanctions for a period of five years against the TV channels “112 Ukraine”, NewsOne and ZIK and the deputy of the Verkhovna Rada from the faction “Opposition Platform – For Life” Taras Kozak, who owns these channels. The TV channels that have come under the sanctions are in opposition to the authorities and are associated with one of the leaders of the Opposition Platform – For Life party, Viktor Medvedchuk. The party condemned this decision and called it a manifestation of dictatorship and infringement of freedom of speech in the country. The TV channels stopped broadcasting but remained available on YouTube.
The National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine on Friday decided to impose sanctions against 19 legal entities and 8 individuals, including the owners of aircraft on which flights to Russia were carried out. Among others, Medvedchuk and his wife Oksana Marchenko were included in the sanctions list.
