MOSCOW, February 20 – RIA Novosti. Veteran of the Great Patriotic War Ignat Artemenko, who was slandered by Alexei Navalny, feels good, he is surrounded by the care of children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, his daughter Elena Artemenko told RIA Novosti.
“Dad feels well, he is surrounded by the care of children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. We have a very friendly family in general!” – said Artemenko.
By court decision on Saturday, Navalny must pay a fine of 850 thousand rubles for defamation of the veteran of the Great Patriotic War Ignat Artemenko. In addition, he was sentenced to 3.5 years in prison in the Yves Rocher case. The new verdict will not affect the term of his imprisonment, since the article “Libel” in the wording, relevant at the time of the crime, did not imply imprisonment.
Thus, he will have to serve in prison for about two and a half years – he has already served a year out of 3.5 assigned. In addition, the court sent materials with Navalny's statements during the trial to the Investigative Committee in order to check whether they contain the elements of another crime.
During the hearings, Navalny made numerous attacks on the participants in the proceedings – he said that the veteran was being used “like a doll,” he called his grandson “a merchant grandfather,” addressed the prosecutor with the words “my dear,” and threatened to remove the judge from the courtroom.
