S.-PETERSBURG, February 21 – RIA Novosti. The Smolninsky District Court ruled on the selection of a preventive measure in the form of detention in relation to the injured employee of the Consulate of Ukraine in St. Petersburg Nazar Smolensky, the joint press service of the city courts said.
“Smolensky, accused of committing a crime under Part 2 of Article 213 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Hooliganism), was taken into custody by the court. The term of the measure is 04/18/2021,” the joint press service of the courts said in a statement.
Earlier, the State Border Service of Ukraine said that its employee, who was guarding the Ukrainian Consulate General in St. Petersburg, was attacked, the man was stabbed twice.
According to the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region, on Thursday a man stabbed an employee of the institution on Bonch-Bruyevich Street in St. Petersburg, the attacker was neutralized and taken to the police. At the address Bonch-Bruyevich Street, 1B, the Consulate General of Ukraine and Otkrytie Bank are located.
According to the press service, the man pounced on the border guard without explanation as soon as the door was opened for him. According to preliminary data, the detainee was made an appointment with the Consulate General.
As the press service of the St. Petersburg courts added, the detained man was previously convicted of robbery. In 2015, the court sentenced him to 8 years in prison, now he does not work, is not married and has no children.
