MOSCOW, February 21 – RIA Novosti. Senator Alexei Pushkov commented on the plans of the WhatsApp messenger to take action against those users who will not read the information about the planned privacy update.
Earlier, the online edition TechCrunch reported that after May 15, users who ignore the banner with the new privacy conditions will be deprived of the function of viewing and sending messages from the application, but they will retain the ability to receive calls and notifications. At the same time, after 120 days, the messenger has the right to delete such an account.
“WhatsApp threatens to remove from May 15 all who do not accept its new rules. In the context of the actions of Internet giants aimed at dictating their own rules of the game, this is a step towards creating a real“ Big Brother. ”Many will find an alternative – out of a sense of protest. Hamsters eat, “- said Pushkov on his Twitter.
The messenger updated the user agreement, adding a clause on the transfer of personal information to Facebook, which caused a resonance among users. The text of the agreement says that WhatsApp, as a part of this corporation, will share with the entire “family of applications” of the social network the necessary data about the user to analyze his habits and tastes.
At the same time, the company explained that all private conversations will remain under the protection of end-to-end encryption so that neither WhatsApp nor Facebook can see private messages. The location, the company notes, also remains hidden and therefore cannot be shared with Facebook.
