PARIS, 20 Feb – RIA Novosti, Lyudmila Orishchenko. Law enforcement officials are trying to prevent clashes between the ultra-right and the ultra-left at rallies in Paris, RIA Novosti reports.
On Saturday, in the Place Denfert-Rochereau in the 14th arrondissement of Paris, an action against the dissolution of the ultra-right organization Génération identitaire is taking place.
French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanen earlier announced the beginning of the dissolution of this organization after its operation against migrants in the Pyrenees. After that, a preliminary investigation into the “public provocation of racial hatred” began. The media previously reported that members of the far-right group arrived at the border with Spain to prevent migrants from entering France.
The protesters against the dissolution of the organization come out with slogans against illegal migration, calling for “the protection of European identity.”
At the same time, participants in the uncoordinated manifestation of the ultra-left movement Antifa are trying to gather in Paris. Some of them tried to approach the Danfer-Rochereau square, where the ultra-right had gathered.
The organizers of the action and numerous police officers mobilized for security are trying to prevent clashes between the two groups.
