Registration of the vaccine “CoviVac” by the Chumakov Center is expected in Russia

MOSCOW, February 20 – RIA Novosti. The registration of the third coronavirus vaccine developed by the Chumakov Center is expected on February 20.

Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova announced that the first release of this drug will take place at the end of March.

“KoviVac” is a whole virion vaccine. These drugs use either artificially weakened viruses that are unable to cause disease, or already killed (inactivated) viruses.

In August, the Ministry of Health of Russia registered the world's first vaccine for the prevention of COVID-19, developed by the Gamaleya Research Center for Electrochemistry. It was named Sputnik V. The drug is created on the studied and tested platform of human adenoviral vectors. Its important benefits are safety, effectiveness and no long-term negative consequences.

Later, the development of the “Vector” center of Rospotrebnadzor – “EpiVacCorona” was registered. The vaccine is characterized by areactogenicity and the highest safety. As Rospotrebnadzor assured, both registered Russian vaccines are effective, in particular, against the “British” strain of coronavirus.
