MOSCOW, February 20 – RIA Novosti. Avian flu has been reported at a poultry farm in Sint-Udenrode in the Dutch province of North Brabant, the Dutch Agriculture Ministry said in a statement.
It is noted that this is probably a highly pathogenic variant of avian influenza.
“Within a radius of 1 km from the enterprise, there are two more poultry farms. About 35 thousand birds live on the infected poultry farm, and 49,920 and 47,000 chickens, respectively, are kept on the other two farms,” the Ministry of Agriculture said.
The ministry stressed that all chickens at the poultry farm and two farms will be destroyed in order to prevent the spread of the virus.
The Dutch authorities announced a ban on the transport of poultry in the 10-kilometer zone around the poultry farm in Sint-Udenrode.
“The ban on transportation applies to poultry, eggs, poultry droppings and used bedding, as well as to other animals and livestock products from farms where poultry is bred for commercial purposes,” the ministry said.
