MOSCOW, February 20 – RIA Novosti. Doctor and TV presenter Alexander Myasnikov in his telegram warned about the “approach” of the bird flu virus to the human population.
Earlier, the head of Rospotrebnadzor, Anna Popova, said that seven Russians had contracted the avian influenza A (H5N8) virus. According to her, this is the first human infection with this strain in the world. “Do you remember my words that the dangerous bird flu is in two mutations from us? Here is the first mutation – from birds to humans,” Myasnikov wrote.
At the same time, the doctor noted that there has not yet been a “second” mutation, when the bird flu can be transmitted from person to person. He expressed the hope that this will not happen. The spread of coronavirus
Myasnikov recalled that similar situations have already occurred in the world. Thus, avian influenza H5N1 was transmitted to humans not often, but with “terrifying mortality”.
“Since 2003, the WHO has recorded 860 cases of confirmed H5N1 influenza with a mortality rate of 53%,” the doctor wrote.
He emphasized that avian flu can be moderate, or only affect the elderly and those with chronic diseases. So, for example, it was with the strains H9N2 and H7N9.
“You can't relax. Infections take the leading positions in the structure of diseases and sometimes become a tool for reshaping the world we are used to,” the doctor concluded.
Earlier, Myasnikov predicted a dangerous pandemic with a high mortality rate. According to him, it can occur after only two mutations of the “bird” or “swine” flu.
