EKATERINBURG, February 20 – RIA Novosti. Former schema-monk Sergiy (Nikolai Romanov) stated that his words about the millions of dollars paid to the Yekaterinburg diocese were misunderstood, and explained that he did not give bribes, but paid an increased fee for the monastery.
Earlier, the former schema-monk's lawyers circulated his appeal, in which Romanov claims that he had to pay “several million dollars” so that the monastery he founded would not have an INN, because the details for the monastery contradict the blessings of his spiritual father. The Yekaterinburg diocese stated that the words about the long-term giving of bribes are unfounded and unprovable.
“Some media began to interpret my words that I allegedly paid bribes. This is not true, I did not pay bribes, I paid an increased tax (collection) of the diocese for the maintenance of monasteries. The rate was increased, since there was no TIN,” Sergius' address circulated by his lawyers.
The spiritual father and founder of the Sredneuralsky nunnery, Sergiy, became the focus of attention after he began to preach that COVID-19 is a “pseudo-pandemic” that they want to put Russians in the “electronic camp of Satan” freedom and work “. Later, a church court defrocked him, but he continued to conduct divine services and conduct an active public activity. In September last year, Romanov was excommunicated from the Church. He is now under arrest in Moscow on charges of inducement to suicide, violation of the right to freedom of conscience and religion and arbitrariness.
