MOSCOW, 18 Feb – RIA Novosti. A new holiday – the Day of Healthy Lifestyle – was proposed to be established in Russia. Sultan Khamzaev, head of the Sober Russia organization, addressed this idea in a letter to the head of the Ministry of Health, Mikhail Murashko. This was reported by RT.
He recalled that Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly stressed the importance of creating a healthy lifestyle among Russians: this idea is necessary both for the development of an individual person and for all citizens in general.
Healthy lifestyle, according to Khamzaev, has become one of the main components of the national idea in Russia.
Therefore, he proposed on April 7, World Health Day, to establish “a holiday of a healthy lifestyle in Russia, which citizens of the country, together with the younger generations, can devote to physical education and sports.”
Earlier, a member of the State Duma Committee on Health Protection, psychiatrist-narcologist Boris Mendelevich expressed the opinion that it is necessary to stimulate Russians to lead a healthy lifestyle.
He suggested that people involved in sports centers be given the opportunity to receive tax deductions, for example, on the cost of a subscription. Nikolai Gerasimenko, a member of the State Duma Committee on Health Protection, in turn, suggested employers to encourage their employees to improve their health. According to him, a healthy lifestyle is the basis for disease prevention.
