MOSCOW, 17 Feb – RIA Novosti. Roskachestvo warned users against fraudulent schemes designed to steal personal data from the Gosuslugi portal, the organization said in a statement.
“In February of this year, specialists from the Center for Digital Expertise of Roskachestvo discovered a whole fraudulent campaign aimed at users of the” Gosuslugi “portal, which is over 126 million Russian citizens. It uses several social engineering techniques at once, while different letters can come several times in a row to one and to the same user, “the message says.
The purpose of the newsletter is one – to induce the reader to click on the link and go to an external site, which also imitates the design of a public services portal, on which the user's personal and payment data will be stolen, warn in Roskachestvo.
The emails imitate the original mailing list from the Gosuslugi portal, but their content is one of several classic phishing schemes: for example, the text is of rather low quality. Among such examples is an offer to participate in the lottery for a commission payment, in case of refusal, fraught with disconnection from access, or an offer to receive social benefits from the state.
In order not to become a victim of digital fraudsters, it is necessary to follow the rules of digital security: experts strongly advise not to go to portals using external links, even from letters with convincing content, and also carefully read the texts and analyze them for psychological tricks.
Among the traditional and important tips is to use antivirus and pay attention to the presence of a site security certificate: if it was issued a few days or weeks ago, it is highly likely that this site is fraudulent, the message says.
