S.-PETERSBURG, 17 Feb – RIA Novosti. The St. Petersburg City Court left unchanged the term of the preventive measure in the form of the arrest of Marina Kohal, accused of the murder of her husband, rapper Andy Cartwright (Alexander Yushko – real name), but excluded from the ruling of the court of first instance the argument about deformation of Kohal's moral values, the the united press service of the city courts.
“The City Court changed the decision of the Smolninsky District Court on the extension of the preventive measure in the form of imprisoning Marina Kohal, excluding from the text the argument about the deformation of Kohal's moral values. The rest is unchanged,” the press service of the courts said.
On December 26, 2020, the Smolninsky District Court extended Kohal's detention until February 28. The lawyers asked to choose house arrest or other non-custodial measure.
According to the Investigative Committee, Kohal, no later than July 29, in an apartment at a house on Nevsky Prospekt during the conflict, “which suddenly arose on the basis of personal hostile relations, caused the death of her husband in a manner not established by the investigation.”
Kohal was detained on July 31: the fragments of Cartwright's body in their apartment were packed in five bags. The woman said that after the death of her husband – as she assumed, from a drug overdose – she dismembered the body to hide this fact and make it appear as if he was missing. But later she contacted a lawyer and, on her advice, went to the police. However, the investigation charged her with the murder of Yushko, on August 3 she was arrested for two months, and later the measure was extended several times.
