They noted that since 2019 the Russian Post will open pilot pharmacies based on post offices. Today they work in 11 branches of the Samara and Ulyanovsk regions, Moscow, Bashkortostan and Chuvashia.

Russian Post in May 2020 announced its intention to start delivering medicines. The company announced that it plans to build partnerships with industry-specific aggregator platforms and specialized marketplaces where pharmacies place orders from manufacturers of pharmacy assortment goods. The company explained that this will significantly expand the range of pharmacies, especially in remote settlements, accelerate the movement of necessary medicines from the manufacturer and distributor to the final point, and also save on logistics and reduce costs within the distribution chain by 25%.

It was reported that the project will be implemented in three stages. The first stage is testing logistics to pharmacies for goods that do not require special storage and transportation conditions.

The second stage involves expanding the assortment with the ability to transport more complex goods requiring licensing, the third – the development of a service for pharmacies in the field of retail logistics for the delivery of drugs to end customers.
