Pfizer submits documents for registration of COVID-19 vaccine in Ukraine

KIEV, February 16 – RIA Novosti. Pfizer has submitted documents for registration in Ukraine of a vaccine against coronavirus COVID-19, the drug is planned to be registered in a few days, the head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Health Maxim Stepanov said on Tuesday during an online conference organized by the US-Ukrainian Business Council.

Earlier, an application was submitted to the state expert center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine for state registration in Ukraine of a vaccine against coronavirus produced by Oxford / AstraZeneca.

“I received a message that Pfizer has submitted (documents – ed.) For registration and will also be registered in the next few days. Literally, our experts, who received documents from Pfizer, have just given me the message,” Ukrinform quotes Stepanov.

Earlier, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine voted for a law on simplified vaccine registration, which provides for the possibility of registering vaccines for use, provided that there is evidence of successful preclinical trials, and clinical trials were conducted with the permission of the relevant competent authorities of the USA, Great Britain, Switzerland, Japan, Australia. Canada, China, Israel, India, Mexico, Brazil or the European Union. On February 10, the Chinese company Sinovac submitted an application for state registration of a vaccine against coronavirus in Ukraine.

The Ministry of Health of the country informed that Ukraine will receive 117 thousand doses of Pfizer vaccine against COVID-19 in mid-February as part of the first wave of vaccination in the country using the COVAX mechanism. According to the department, the next deliveries of vaccines under the COVAX initiative will take place from mid-February to the end of the second quarter of 2021. During this delivery, Ukraine is to receive from 2.2 million to 3.7 million doses of AstraZeneca vaccines.
