MOSCOW, February 15 – RIA Novosti. Gazprom could take over the functions of a single regional gasification operator, said Dmitry Medvedev, chairman of United Russia, deputy chairman of the RF Security Council.
“Now a regional operator, in all likelihood, is an uncontested idea, and it will need to be supported, I mean that the functions of this regional operator would be taken over by Gazprom, that is, a public joint stock company,” Medvedev said at an online meeting on the gasification of regions.
Medvedev recalled that in 2005-2006, such a distribution of responsibility was adopted, when Gazprom was responsible for the main gas pipeline, gas pipeline branch and GDS, and regional and municipal authorities were responsible for the “last mile” and intra-settlement networks, boiler houses. He spoke in favor of changing the distribution of responsibilities and introducing a single regional operator. This idea was supported by the absolute majority of the meeting participants.
