The number of victims of the earthquake in Japan rises to 150 people

TOKYO, February 14 – RIA Novosti. The number of victims of a powerful earthquake in northeastern Japan has increased to 150, according to the Kyodo news agency.

Data on the victims are collected in 9 prefectures, including Fukushima, Miyagi, Tochigi, Ibaraki and others. The largest number of people with injuries of varying severity are in Fukushima Prefecture – at least 78 people were injured here. At least 55 people were injured in Miyagi Prefecture.

No casualties have been reported yet.

An earthquake with a magnitude of 7.3 occurred in northeastern Japan at 23.08 (17.08 Moscow time) in the area of Fukushima prefecture in the Pacific Ocean. The hearth was located at a depth of 55 kilometers. The maximum tremor in Fukushima and Miyagi prefecture was 6+ on a seven-point Japanese scale. The tremors were felt in Tokyo as well, their strength in the center of the capital was about 4 points.

An aftershock with a magnitude of 5.2 was recorded in the Fukushima prefecture region on Sunday afternoon.

No emergency situations or radiation leaks have been detected at nuclear power plants in this area. The government said that almost 1 million households were left without electricity in the Kanto area, where Tokyo is located, with the exception of the capital itself, and in the Tohoku area. Electricity supply in most areas was almost completely restored by Sunday afternoon.
