PRAGUE, February 14 – RIA Novosti. The Czech government, at the request of regional leaders, has declared an emergency situation for 14 days due to a difficult epidemiological situation – until February 28, citing sources in the Cabinet of Ministers of Czech TV.
On Thursday, the Czech parliament, by a majority of one vote, 49 to 48, rejected the Cabinet's request to extend the emergency regime, which had been in effect since October 5, 2020. In this regard, the government took advantage of the opportunity provided for in the country's legislation to declare an emergency mode again at the request of regional leaders who are concerned about the increase in the incidence of coronavirus in their regions.
At the same time, the head of the Senate Milos Vystrchil and some experts in constitutional law dispute these actions of the regional leaders and the Cabinet.
A government press conference is expected later Sunday.
