MOSCOW, February 12 – RIA Novosti. The introduction by China of restrictions on the import of pollock led to a sharp decrease in its value. As follows from the data of the Federal State Unitary Enterprise “Natsrybresursy”, the price of this type of fish in February fell to the lowest values for the last few years.
So, at the beginning of the month, the wholesale cost of one kilogram of pollock in the Far East was 65 rubles against 102 rubles in February last year. In the central part, the price of fish fell from 123 to 85 rubles per kilogram. Thus, prices returned to the level of three years ago, when pollock cost more than 60 rubles.
According to Kommersant, the collapse in prices caused the supply of fish to stop on the Russian market. Traders are reluctant to trade with fishmongers as they expect prices to fall further.
