MINSK, 12 Feb – RIA Novosti. President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that now is not the time for “breaking and crumbling” in the country, therefore they will create a new constitution of the republic carefully and carefully.
On Friday, the delegates of the All-Belarusian People's Assembly (VNS) adopted a resolution from which it follows that the Constitutional Commission by the end of this year will develop proposals to amend the basic law of Belarus.
“In these moments of uncertainty of our future, we must be careful, careful and united as never before. It is not the time to break and crumble today,” Lukashenko said on Friday in Minsk during the All-Belarusian People's Assembly.
Therefore, in his words, “creating a new constitution, we will act very carefully and carefully.”
Lukashenko stressed that now is not the time for “dubious experiments”. In his opinion, in matters of transformations, one must walk like on ice, otherwise one can “fail and not get out.”
The All-Belarusian People's Assembly was held in Minsk on February 11-12, the total number of participants and invited guests was 2,700 people: about 2,400 delegates and 300 guests, including foreign ones. All regions of the republic were represented.
Earlier, Lukashenka said that the ANC should become a constitutional body and a stabilizer for the transition period when the government changes. The head of state also noted that he had a plan on the redistribution of powers in the republic on his desk. According to Lukashenka, the draft of the country's new constitution will be submitted to a referendum in early 2022, and the draft of the basic law will be prepared by the end of 2021.
