KRASNOYARSK, 12 Feb – RIA Novosti. In Russia, for the first time, a case brought up due to the death of people after an attack by stray dogs will go to trial, the press service of the Investigative Committee for the Krasnoyarsk Territory and Khakassia reported.
In February last year, law enforcement agencies reported several attacks by packs of dogs on adults and children in various parts of Krasnoyarsk. The bodies of a woman and a man with traces of dog bites were found in the Kirovsky district. Later, the Investigative Committee reported that the investigators opened a criminal case against the head of the city administration of roads, infrastructure and improvement Yevgeny Petryuk.
He was accused of negligence, resulting in the death of people due to the attack of dogs. The official was arrested.
According to the investigation, the defendant's negligent attitude towards the service led to an uncontrolled increase in the number of stray dogs in Krasnoyarsk and to the subsequent attacks. The case deals with four dead and two injured.
The regional prosecutor’s office reported that the indictment in this case had been approved. In the near future he will be sent for consideration on the merits to the Oktyabrsky District Court of Krasnoyarsk.
