MOSCOW, February 10 – RIA Novosti. Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Igor Ananskikh, in an interview with RT TV channel, agreed with the opinion of German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas, who spoke about the danger of abandoning the construction of Nord Stream 2.
“This gas pipeline is a great blessing for Europe. Of course, everyone understands this, just some talk about it, while others do not talk about it,” the parliamentarian said.
Ananskikh also stressed that the gas pipeline has a positive effect on the European business sector, and Maas's statements are dictated primarily by concern for entrepreneurs in his country.
“The German Foreign Minister thinks about his people, about his entrepreneurs, so that they can live better, which cannot be said about other officials of other states,” he summed up.
Earlier, Heiko Maas noted that politicians calling for a fundamental rejection of Nord Stream 2 should be aware of the “geostrategic consequences” of such a decision. He also called the wrong strategy of a number of European politicians provoking confrontation between the West and Russia.
