MINSK, 11 Feb – RIA Novosti. President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko responded to accusations that the election results for the head of the republic were fabricated: one or two percent could have increased, but the majority consider him the winner.
“After these elections, they say: they drew something for the current president. Well, you know, frankly, well, our governors have a habit of showing who is better. And someone could add half a percent, one percent, two. But listen, well, you cannot draw 80%, “Lukashenko said at the All-Belarusian People's Assembly.
According to him, “if someone does not like 80 (%), let it be 76 (%), let it be 68 (%), as is the average now for questionnaires, or 74.5 (%) for polls.” “Let it go! But all the same, we are the winners, the overwhelming majority of the people are behind us,” Lukashenka said, the delegates greeted these words with applause.
The presidential elections in Belarus were held on August 9, 2020. According to the Central Election Commission, Alexander Lukashenko won for the sixth time, gaining 80.1% of the vote, as a result of which massive opposition protests began in the country.
