MOSCOW, 11 Feb – RIA Novosti. It is possible to cancel the mandatory mask regime in Russia not earlier than May, in Moscow – in June, infectious disease doctor Evgeny Timakov told RIA Novosti.
Earlier, the head of Udmurtia, Alexander Brechalov, said that in the region from February 12, the mask mode will wear a recommendation mode. Later on Wednesday, the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, also said that the republic is canceling the mandatory wearing of masks in public places, but the recommendation to wear them, including for risk groups, remains. At the same time, the head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova said that wearing masks, despite the stabilization of the situation with coronavirus, is still necessary, this requirement is not canceled.
“It is too early to cancel the mask regime. At the moment we have a large group of people susceptible to coronavirus infection who have not been ill. Scientific studies show that coronavirus infection is dose-dependent, and the course of the disease depends on the amount of the virus that enters the body,” – Timakov said.
In a number of people, according to the specialist, a small viral load does not cause illness at all. Accordingly, as the dose is increased, the risk of infection for them increases. The mask in this case acts as a natural barrier.

“When the sun comes up, when the premises will be ventilated wherever people accumulate en masse, when the air conditioners that will ventilate the premises will start working, somewhere it will be the beginning of May, in our middle lane it will be the beginning of summer, June, by the summer the mandatory mask regimen can be canceled, but left in a recommendatory manner. Recommended for those who have not yet been ill and have not been vaccinated, “said Timakov.
