State Enterprise proposed to punish social networks for calls for illegal actions

MOSCOW, February 10 – RIA Novosti. The Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation proposed to think about financial punishment for Internet sites where teenagers post calls to participate in illegal actions, Deputy Head of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation Alexey Zhafyarov said at a meeting of the State Duma commission to investigate the facts of foreign interference in the internal affairs of Russia.

“It has already been said that on Twitter, TikTok, Instagram, a lot of young people posted these calls (to participate in illegal actions – ed.) For the sake of the so-called hype, growth of their subscribers, and so on. So, if these sites are obviously created for the purpose of making a profit, perhaps it makes sense to think about adequate administrative responsibility in financial terms. In order for the placement of such appeals for the sake of hype become financially unprofitable, “Zhafyarov said.
