MOSCOW, February 10 – RIA Novosti. The work of life support systems of the population may be disrupted this week in 12 regions of the North Caucasus, South and Far Eastern federal districts of the country due to bad weather conditions, warns the All-Russian Research Institute for Civil Defense and Emergencies (VNII GOChS).
“As a result of the effects of a complex of unfavorable meteorological phenomena, the specialists of the institute predict with a high probability the occurrence of emergencies and accidents related to the disruption of the life support systems of the population of the Kamchatka Territory, Magadan Region, the republics of Crimea and Adygea, Krasnodar Territory and the entire territory of the North Caucasian Federal District,” the message on the official website of VNII GOChS.
Scientists recommend the territorial divisions of Roshydromet to promptly bring information about the predicted dangerous weather to the concerned authorities for timely preventive measures.
Earlier it was reported that up to mid-February, in most of the European territory of Russia and the south of Western Siberia, precipitation of up to 65 millimeters is predicted – almost two monthly rates. This increases the risk of emergencies associated with snow and rain floods, avalanches, mudflows and landslides in the mountainous regions of the North Caucasus Federal District, Krasnodar Territory and Crimea.
According to VNII GOChS, as of February 5, the height of the snow cover in the Novosibirsk region is 132 centimeters, in the Krasnoyarsk Territory – about 110 centimeters, and in Kamchatka – about 108 centimeters. In some regions, the load of snow on the roofs of buildings has reached excessive values, leading to their collapse, as well as death and injury of people.
