Abyzov's lawyer admitted that he was going to help in transferring a bribe

MOSCOW, February 10 – RIA Novosti. The lawyer of ex-Minister of the Open Government Mikhail Abyzov, Alexander Vershinin, pleaded guilty to promising to mediate in the transfer of a bribe, his lawyer Alexei Kirsanov told RIA Novosti on Wednesday. “[At the meeting of the Nikulinsky court in Moscow], he pleaded guilty to promising to mediate the bribe. that is, in a promise to help transfer 300 thousand dollars, “the agency's source said.

This episode is not related to the criminal case of Abyzov. According to the investigators, Vershinin promised to transfer money from the representative of the crime boss Vasily Khristoforov along the corruption chain in order to help the latter avoid the initiation of a criminal case for some serious crimes.

Vershinin under part 5 of article 291.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation faces, among other things, a fine of up to 60 times the amount of a bribe (that is, 18 million dollars, or 1.3 billion rubles). He is now under house arrest, hearings will continue on February 19.

The second person involved in this case is businessman Alexei Dobrynin, who is accused of attempted fraud on an especially large scale. It was to him, according to the investigation, that it was supposed to transfer the same 300 thousand dollars. Other details were not disclosed.

Vershinin is a lawyer for famous people: in addition to Abyzov, he defended, for example, the ex-head of the internal security department of the RF IC, Mikhail Maksimenko. He was detained in mid-April, he partially pleaded guilty and, according to Kirsanov, is cooperating with the investigation.
