MOSCOW, 8 Feb – RIA Novosti. LDPR leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky said that he was counting on an acquittal of the former governor of the Khabarovsk Territory, Sergei Furgal, due to the lack of evidence.
“I look forward to an acquittal due to lack of evidence,” Zhirinovsky wrote on Instagram, answering a question about Furgal's future.
Furgal's arrest in July last year was one of the most high-profile events of 2020. The governor was immediately taken to Moscow and imprisoned in the Lefortovo pre-trial detention center, and soon the president fired him. Furgalu faces up to life in prison.
In early February, the RF IC announced that Furgal had been charged with a final version.
