MOSCOW, Feb 9 – RIA Novosti. The Accounts Chamber of the Russian Federation named the regions with the most polluted drinking water, while, according to auditors, almost a quarter of federal subsidies for the ecological remediation of water bodies (ERWO) were allocated to Chechnya, where the water is already clean. “Over the past ten years, the Sverdlovsk region accounts for the largest number of cases of high and extremely high levels of pollution among the constituent entities of the Russian Federation. At the same time, the ERVO of the Sverdlovsk region and other water bodies, which in recent years accounted for the largest number of cases of pollution, were not ecological rehabilitation of water bodies for 2012-2020.
Among such regions, auditors name the Arkhangelsk, Vladimir, Leningrad and Novgorod regions.
“At the same time, 1.1 billion rubles, or 24.1% of the total subsidies to the budgets of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation, were allocated from the federal budget for the period of 2013–2020 for the ERVO (4.7 billion rubles). Thus, water samples taken from the reservoirs of the Chechen Republic of I and II categories met the sanitary requirements, “the materials say.
The ten regions with the largest number of water samples that do not meet hygienic standards in different years also included Kirov, Kemerovo, Nizhny Novgorod, Penza regions.
The materials also provide data from Rospotrebnadzor, according to which in Russia there is an increase in the share of water samples from category I reservoirs (drinking and domestic water use) that do not meet sanitary and epidemiological requirements, from 21.9% in 2012 to 30.1% in 2020 year.
