Russian judges were advised not to write about politics on social networks

MOSCOW, Feb 9 – RIA Novosti. Judges should not speak on social networks about unfinished court cases and politics, said the deputy chairman of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation, chairman of the disciplinary board Sergei Rudakov.

He noted that now judges often register on social networks, communicate there with family and friends, and speak out about the events taking place.

“A judge must take into account that his actions do not diminish the authority of the judiciary and do not undermine trust in justice … It is impossible to forbid judges to use them, and it is not necessary to do this, but it must be remembered that professional ethics must be adhered to not only in work, but and outside working hours, “he said at a meeting of judges of courts of general jurisdiction and arbitration courts of Russia.

Rudakov recalled that any imprudent recording or image can damage the reputation. “It should be recommended that a judge on social networks cannot comment on an unfinished trial, give legal advice and should avoid political assessments,” said the deputy chairman of the RF Armed Forces.
