MOSCOW, 8 Feb – RIA Novosti. Actor Mikhail Efremov, convicted of a fatal road accident, was placed in the Vodnik pre-trial detention center in Moscow, where he was taken to participate in investigative actions, a law enforcement source told RIA Novosti.
“Efremov has already been taken to pre-trial detention center No. 5 in Moscow,” the source said.
Recently it became known that the actor from the Belgorod colony was convoyed to the capital pre-trial detention center. Many suggested that this could be related to the consideration of cassation complaints against the verdict, but the regional FPS stated that Efremov was brought to Moscow “to participate in investigative actions.”
Efremov was placed in Vodnik in September 2020 after the Presnensky Court of Moscow sentenced him to 8 years in prison, and remained there until he was sent to the Belgorod colony.
On the evening of June 8, 2020, in the center of Moscow, a drunken Efremov driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee crossed a double continuous line, drove into the oncoming lane and crashed into a Lada van, the driver of which, the courier of the online store Sergey Zakharov, later died in hospital. As a result of the high-profile trial, the Presnensky court sentenced Efremov to 8 years in a general regime colony, then the Moscow City Court reduced the term to 7.5 years.
