Gorbachev condolences over death of former US Secretary of State Schultz

MOSCOW, 8 Feb – RIA Novosti. Former Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev expressed his condolences over the death of former US Secretary of State George Shultz, noting that they worked together and “it was not easy.”

“George Schultz is undoubtedly a major figure in world politics. We worked together, it was not easy, but through joint efforts we found ways to solve problems based on the interests of both parties. I think this experience is important now,” Gorbachev told RIA Novosti.

George Schultz, 60th US Secretary of State, has passed away at the age of 100. During his political career, Schultz has held positions in the State Department, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Labor, and Budget Office. The former US Secretary of State celebrated his centenary in December 2020. Gorbachev then congratulated him, noting that the years of their joint work were turning points in ending the Cold War.
