Case opened in Krasnoyarsk after massive water poisoning

KRASNOYARSK, 8 Feb – RIA Novosti. Investigators opened a criminal case on the fact of mass poisoning of residents of the Oktyabrsky district of Krasnoyarsk with poor-quality water, the regional prosecutor's office reports.

Earlier it was reported that on February 1, the Krasnoyarsk prosecutor's office began checking after information about mass water poisoning in the Oktyabrsky district of Krasnoyarsk. Also, the regional headquarters of the UK took up the check. According to Rospotrebnadzor, 92 people fell ill with acute intestinal infection. According to the KrasKom water supplier, the poisoning could have been caused by the ingress of water from the fire system. Later, “KrasKom” reported that the results of water analyzes showed its full compliance with quality standards. Cardiogram of the day “In connection with the provision of services of inadequate quality, a criminal case has been initiated under Part 1 of Art. 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation,” the prosecutor's office said in a release.

The sanitary and epidemiological investigation is conducted by the department of Rospotrebnadzor in the region, at the moment food and contact-household factors of infection of the population of the Oktyabrsky district are excluded.

KrasKom stated that studies at the Krasnoyarsk water intake after reports of mass poisoning showed the safety of the water. At the same time, the company said that there was a flaw in the work of its employees – they did not give recommendations to management companies and homeowners associations to discharge stagnant water from the building's engineering systems after outages.
