MOSCOW, February 7 – RIA Novosti. A Saudi Arabian coalition led by Saudi Arabia has destroyed a mined drone launched by Yemeni rebels from the Ansar Allah (Houthis) movement, the Saudi state agency SPA reported, citing a statement from a coalition spokesman, Turki al-Maliki.
Al-Maliki said that on Sunday morning, coalition forces intercepted and destroyed a mined drone directed by the Houthis towards civilian targets and civilians in southern Saudi Arabia.
In Yemen, active hostilities have continued since August 2014 between government forces supporting President Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi and the Houthis. A coalition led by Saudi Arabia has been fighting on the side of Hadi since March 2015. However, since 2018, government forces in the south of the country have split, and the Transitional Council, created there with the support of the UAE, ousted pro-government forces from the capital of South Yemen, Aden. With the mediation of Saudi Arabia, the separatists agreed to a reconciliation with the government by signing an agreement in Riyadh. According to this agreement, at the end of last year, a new government was created in Yemen, which included southerner ministers.
